Written by us, so read it that way. The prices below came off their own pricing page on the date shown; everything we say about our own product you can make it do on a call.
The short answer
MyCase puts trust accounting in its cheapest plan, which is genuinely useful if the client account has to live in the same system as the file. Pertavo does time and invoicing now, but not the trust side, and charges once for the whole firm instead of once per person.
01Reasons to buy MyCase
Theirs first,
and not hedged.
If none of these matter to your firm, the rest of the page is worth reading. If one of them does, it probably settles it.
The money side is included from the cheapest plan
Trust accounting is in their Basic tier, with three-way reconciliation. If what you want is one system that handles the client file and the regulated client account, that is a coherent product and we do not compete with it.
One system, one login, one bill
Fewer moving parts than a narrow tool plus an accounting package. For a firm that does not want to think about where anything lives, that is worth paying per seat for.
A mature product with a long track record
They have been doing this for well over a decade. We have not, and you should price that difference in.
02The price model
Per seat,
or per firm.
Read off mycase.com/pricing on 6 October 2026. Per user, per month. Their page describes trust accounting and invoicing in every tier, a limited client portal on Basic, and court-rules calendaring on the upper tiers — check it yourself before you decide anything, because this is their page to change and not ours.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | × 4 people, monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $60 | $50 | $240 |
| Pro | $120 | $100 | $480 |
| Advanced | $150 | $130 | $600 |
| Pertavo Professional | $59 | $49 | $59 |
The last column is the point. Ours does not have one per headcount because the headcount is not in it — and the comparison is only fair once you subtract whatever you would still pay for the parts we do not do, which are listed below.
03What Pertavo does not do
The four that
decide most of this.
Every negative on this page is about us. We have not written a word about what MyCase cannot do, because we are not in a position to know.
No trust accounting
Money a client paid up front is held against the matter and spent down by an invoice — but no segregated accounts, no three-way reconciliation, no bar reporting.
No way to pay you inside it
An invoice goes out from Pertavo. It is settled however you already take money, and somebody at the firm records that it arrived.
No docketing
Dates are typed by somebody. Nothing computes a limitation period from a rulebook, and nothing sends a reminder.
Nothing syncs but the diary
Your dates go out as a calendar you subscribe to. Nothing else connects — no email, no accounts package, no API — and nothing reads back in.
04Where Pertavo is the better buy
Four reasons,
if the gaps did not stop you.
Flat per firm, not per user
Their published Basic tier is $60 per user per month billed monthly. Four people on that is $240 a month; our Professional plan is $59 a month however many people use it.
A conflict check that interrupts
Opening a matter searches the firm and will not finish until somebody has read what it found and acknowledged it. The acknowledgement is stored, so six months later the question "did anyone check" has an answer.
Ethical walls enforced at the database
An attorney reaches only the matters they are staffed on, and the request is refused before it reaches the data rather than greyed out on screen.
Less product to adopt
We do the matter, its documents, its messages, templates, time, dates and the signature. That is all of it, which means there is a realistic chance your firm uses all of it.
05Three questions
The ones that
come up on the call.
- We use MyCase for trust accounting. Can we move?
- Not for that part. Pertavo invoices, and holds what a client has paid against a matter, but it has no trust ledger and no three-way reconciliation — and we are not going to build a simplified version of regulated client-money software to win a deal. Firms that move keep something for the trust side and bring the rest across.
- How much would we actually save?
- Take your per-seat price, multiply by everyone with an account — including the paralegal, the bookkeeper and the part-time assistant — and compare it with one flat plan. Then subtract whatever you would still pay for the parts we do not do. That second step is the honest one, and most comparison pages leave it out.
- Do our clients need to learn something new?
- They get an invitation, set a password and see five menu items. There is nothing to install. Whether they use it depends far more on the sentence you send with the invitation than on which product you picked.
