A client is a person you invited
Counted per client account on the firm, and an invitation that has been sent but not accepted counts too — otherwise a firm sitting on the limit could send twenty at once and have all twenty accepted.
Storage counts every version
Not just the current one. Superseded versions and the files attached to messages are all in the number, because they are all occupying space.
Reaching a limit stops the next thing, not the last one
Uploads, new versions, generated documents, message attachments and invitations are each refused once the plan is full. Nothing already in the firm is touched, hidden or deleted.
Moving up a plan is a conversation, not a cancellation
Tell us and we change the plan on the account. There is no migration, no re-upload, and nothing to set up again.
A year is billed at 10 months on every plan. What the software does with a plan is written up in billing and subscriptions. If you are costing this against a per-seat suite, the side-by-side pages put their published prices next to this one, where we could read them.
Questions about the bill

- Is it really per firm rather than per user?
- Yes. Add an associate, a paralegal, a bookkeeper or a seasonal assistant and the number does not move. Every suite in this market charges per seat, and that is the single biggest difference in what a small firm actually pays.
- What does the annual price save?
- A year costs ten months. Nothing else differs — the same plan, the same limits, the same support — and you can start monthly and move to annual later.
- Do my clients pay anything?
- No. You subscribe as a firm and invite your clients in; they create a password from the invitation and use the portal at no cost. The plan limits count clients, not seats you pay for separately.
- How do I pay?
- By card, inside the app, when you are ready. Every firm starts on the 30-day trial with no card; the firm owner then chooses a plan under Settings → Billing and pays through Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider, which issues the receipts and handles sales tax and VAT. Changing plan, updating the card and cancelling happen in the same place. If your firm needs a different arrangement, talk to us.
- Is there a free trial?
- Yes — 30 days, no card. The trial runs on the plan you pick at signup, at that plan’s real limits — a firm with three hundred clients can try Enterprise at full size rather than squeeze into Starter. Pick no plan and the Starter limits apply. Either way it is the real product, not a sandbox. You get an email a week before it ends and again the day before. If it ends without a plan, nothing is deleted: the firm and its clients can still sign in, view and download everything, and new work resumes the moment a plan is chosen.
- What happens to our files if we leave?
- They are yours and you can take them. For a law firm this is not a convenience question — holding and returning the client file is an obligation — so it should never depend on our goodwill, and it does not.
