Appearance and theme

Settings → Appearance offers three choices:

• Light — always light.
• Dark — always dark.
• System — follow whatever the device is set to, which means the portal goes dark in the evening along with everything else if that is how your machine is configured.

Where the choice is kept

In the browser you set it in. It is a per-device preference rather than an account one, so setting dark mode on your laptop does not change your phone. Signing in on a new machine starts from System.

This is also why a colleague’s screen can look different from yours while you are both signed in to the same portal.

The theme carries across from the website

The public Pertavo site and the portal share the same preference, so moving from one to the other does not flip the page from dark to light underneath you.

A note for screenshots

If you are capturing screenshots for your own firm’s client instructions, set Light first. Dark screenshots printed onto paper are close to unreadable, and instructions for clients tend to end up printed.

Accessibility

The theme is a preference, not an accessibility feature. If text is too small, use your browser’s own zoom — the portal’s layout reflows rather than clipping, and zooming is the tool that actually solves it.
